Home care employees continue to be the fast growing local within the DC 1707 family. Local 389 currently has 7,000 employees as it continues to organize the nonunion home care service sector. ......more

RETIREES

One of DC 1707’s most active committees consists of members who have retired from the workplace but retain an interest in the union and its activities. Retirees hold regularly scheduled meetings at the union headquarters. The meetings frequently feature guest speaks on a wide range of topics. The local also is mindful to include social and recreational programs among its activities. The retirees also make valuable contributions to electoral and legislative campaigns. Juanita Steele serves as the president of this committee.
